Introduction

Remora ("we," "our," or "us") is developed by Ensa. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application ("App").

Information We Collect

1. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us:

• Contact Information: Names, phone numbers, email addresses, and birthdays of people you add to the app
• Photos: Profile pictures you add for your contacts
• Notes: Personal notes you create about your contacts
• Reminders: Scheduled reminders and notifications
• App Preferences: Your settings, theme preferences, and language selection

All locally stored data is encrypted using industry-standard SQLCipher encryption to protect your information.

2. Data Collected by Third-Party Services

Firebase Analytics (Google)

We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate. This helps us improve the app experience. Firebase may collect:

• App usage statistics (screens viewed, features used)
• Device information (device model, operating system version)
• Country/region (based on IP address, not stored)
• App crashes and performance data

Firebase Analytics data is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you personally. You can opt out of analytics by disabling "Analytics" in the device settings.

In-App Purchases (Apple App Store / Google Play)

When you make a purchase (e.g., Remora Premium), the transaction is processed by Apple or Google. We do not have access to your payment information. We only receive confirmation of your purchase status.

3. Permissions We Request

All permissions are optional. The app functions without granting these permissions, though some features may be limited.

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

• All personal data is stored locally on your device
• Database is encrypted using SQLCipher (AES-256 encryption)
• Encryption keys are stored in secure device storage (Keychain on iOS, EncryptedSharedPreferences on Android)

Backup Feature

• Backups are created locally and can be optionally encrypted with a password you choose
• Backup files are stored on your device and are not uploaded to any server
• You control where backup files are saved and shared

Biometric Authentication

• If enabled, the app uses your device's biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint)
• Biometric data is handled entirely by your device's operating system
• We never have access to your biometric data

Data We Do NOT Collect

We want to be clear about what we do not do:

• We do not sell your data
• We do not share your personal information with third parties
• We do not upload your contacts, notes, or photos to any server
• We do not track your location
• We do not access your data remotely
• We do not create advertising profiles

Children's Privacy

Remora is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Your Rights

You have full control over your data:

• Access: All your data is on your device — you can view it anytime
• Export: Use the backup feature to export your data
• Delete: Delete individual items or uninstall the app to remove all data
• Opt-out: Disable analytics through your device settings

For EU Residents (GDPR)

Under GDPR, you have additional rights including the right to access, rectification, erasure, and data portability. Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can exercise these rights directly through the app.

For California Residents (CCPA)

Under CCPA, you have the right to know what personal information is collected and to request deletion. Remora does not sell personal information. All data is stored locally and can be deleted by uninstalling the app.

Data Retention

• Local data is retained until you delete it or uninstall the app
• Analytics data is retained according to Firebase's retention policies (typically 14 months)

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the app and updating the "Last updated" date.
